How do I check a player's rank in LoL?

Choose the region and enter the player's Riot ID as Name#TAG. We query Riot's servers and show their Solo/Duo and Flex rank and account level.

What are a Riot ID and a tag?

A Riot ID is the name of a Riot account: a nickname and a tag joined by #, e.g. Kaori#EUW. The tag tells apart players with the same nickname and is 2–5 characters long. Players see their Riot ID in their profile in the League of Legends client.

Why is the player not on LoLFinder?

You can look up any player: we take the rank and level from Riot's servers even if they don't use LoLFinder. Players who have posted listings on LoLFinder also get their own page with their rank and active listings.

Can I find a player without the tag?

No. Riot looks players up only by the full Riot ID with the tag. Ask the player for their tag or check their profile in the client.

How is the Solo/Duo rank different from Flex?

They are two separate ratings. You queue for Solo/Duo alone or as a pair; for Flex also as a group of three or a team of five. The two ranks are calculated independently and can differ a lot.
